I'm based in Oakland, CA, and available for sessions both locally and worldwide.
-
My work is for the artist, the weirdo the deep feelers, and those who want their milestone photographed from a place of artistic intention, curiosity, + storytelling. Trust is essential to my creative process.
I want to make pictures that reflect a feeling, celebrate honest emotions and storytelling, exist outside of the realm of “shoulds”, and leave perfection at the door.
I am looking to work with folks who are open to letting go of some of the control and putting trust in my creative process, as well as people looking for film photography documentation of their day.

I am an artist photographer, making images from a place of creative expression. I show up behind the camera as a curious observer. I am low intervention when it comes to portraits because I want to make pictures of you as you are. That said, I also don’t leave folks hanging. I am there to offer encouragement, guidance, and care throughout a shoot. Clients have described working with me as laid back, fun, and low stress.

Documentary-style photography isn’t about perfection, rather it seeks out moments of authenticity.
Unlike heavily posed or editorial styled photography, my approach to documentary photography is rooted in care and presence. I would describe my role as observing with curiosity and responding rather than orchestrating and controlling.
With weddings, the story of your wedding is made of so many beautiful moments. The fleeting gestures, a veil being blown in the wind, memories of absent loved ones, the butterflies before walking down the aisle, unscripted laughter. These in between moments are where the magic sauce lives.

I am always honored to photograph in new places, but more than spaces I am inspired by intentional, intimate, art filled gatherings with eclectic themes.
That said, here are some locations where I would love to make pictures -
NYC (The iconic Chelsea Hotel, NY City Hall, an elopement in Brooklyn)
Inspired by the desert, anywhere in the Southwest like Tucson or New Mexico. Or Pioneertown where I have seem some amazing bands over the years.
Oregon or Washington
The Eastern Sierras
Celebrations in Guatemala, Colombia, and Mexico City would make my heart sing.
And of course, Sicily.

Yes! Film is included in all my packages. I love its timeless, authentic feel and unique character. My pricing reflects the cost of film developing and scanning.
Film sessions require extra processing time, so please allow additional time for delivery. Film photos are carefully scanned and edited with the same attention to detail as digital images.
-

Trust: Trust the process, yourself, and me. Let go of expectations and embrace the moment. Lean on your loved ones to help you ground.
Spaciousness: Spaciousness is a gift. Over-optimizing a timeline can squeeze the life out of a wedding day or shoot. Time to breathe, linger, and feel is what allows both presence and great photographs to be made.
Light: Natural light is one of the most magical things to work with. Consider scheduling your shoot or portraits an hour before sunset if the weather is nice. For getting ready photos with weddings, sit near a window to capture that beautiful natural light. At its heart, my work is about noticing. It is my job to follow the light searching for photographs that feel alive.
Meaningful Locations: Choose locations that resonate with you. Whether it's your home or a favorite spot, authenticity speaks so much more than performance. If you book a couples session with me, ask me about my concept board.
For Families with Young Children: In-home sessions are wonderful. They allow children to feel comfortable and showcase their personalities.
Let me in: Although at times I am a fly on the wall, I am more of a gentle participant in your session. I want to meet your grandmother, lay on the ground with your kids, share a cup of tea. Sometimes that means I don’t photograph every single minute moment. Instead, I aim for connection and to follow real moments, follow light, and document what unfolds.

I do not guarantee a certain numer of images, however typically, you'll receive 50–75 edited images per hour of hybrid film and digital photography coverage. For weddings with a second photographer, this number may be higher.
I don’t believe in flooding you with thousands of images. Wedding galleries these days can feel like digital dumps. Instead, I believe in careful curation: choosing the images that will matter to you, that will hopefully stand the test of time, that carry the most impact and meaning. A “small”, intentional gallery tells your story with clarity and depth, without the noise. You will still receive hundreds of beautiful images. Don’t you worry!
-
I work slowly and intentionally. My gallery delivery time is 8–10 weeks and for portrait sessions, you can expect your full gallery within 4 weeks. I don’t promise fast sneak peeks, because I let the film lab do their work. And do it well. For weddings, you can expect a sneak peek within 3-4 weeks, and that’s just if you want one. I thrive when I can sit with your collection carefully as the story comes together. I spend time choosing which memories hold up best, so your gallery isn’t diluted. The result being photographs that are cared for, curated, and given the attention they deserve.
Should you need your photographs quickly, I do have a “rush delivery” option which is an additional fee.
-
Nope! RAW files are not an accurate representation of my work and I consider it an unfinished product. I deliver professionally edited color and black & white images.
-
By hiring me, you trust my vision to make pictures of you and your loved ones authentically. I don’t re-edit photos after the session or switch black & white and color versions. If you have preferences, please share them before the session. Also, kindly avoid editing or adding filters to the images I provide.
-
Late starts may reduce your session time, as I can’t always accommodate delays. Please plan to arrive on time for your scheduled session.
If you have additional questions, feel free to email me at hello@rainbowroadstudios.com or fill out my inquiry form.
